PÖYRY AWARDED RAILWAY ENGINEERING CONTRACTS IN POLAND TOTALLING EUR 10 MILLION

PÖYRY PLC Company Announcement 19 December 2008 at 3.45 p.m.

PÖYRY AWARDED RAILWAY ENGINEERING CONTRACTS IN POLAND TOTALLING EUR
10 MILLION

Pöyry has been awarded an engineering contract with a value of EUR
8.9 million for detail design and tender documentation for the
modernisation of the "Warsaw Diameter Line" and an engineering
contract for a feasibility study for the E75 railway line (Rail
Baltica) with a total value of EUR 1.1 million. Both contracts have
been awarded by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A.

The so-called Diameter Line is a railway line crossing the whole City
of Warsaw between the Warsaw East and Warsaw West stations, running
partially underground. The modernisation of the line embraces a 2.3
km long tunnel and stations serving both local and long-distance
operations. The project is part of a larger modernisation project of
the E65 railway line and is financed by the EU's Cohesion Fund and
the Polish State Budget.

Pöyry's services in the project include development of detail design,
environmental impact statement, tender documentation, and assistance
in obtaining the opinions, approvals and permits necessary for
commencing construction works. The duration of the project is 14
months.

The railway line E75 from Warsaw to the Lithuanian border with a
length of 341 km or alternatively a 33 km longer route through
Elk-Olecko is an important part of the European Transportation
Corridor (TEN-Corridor) No. I called "Rail Baltica". It connects
Warsaw (Poland), Kaunas (Lithuania) and Riga (Latvia) with Tallinn
(Estonia) and is the only railway connection between Poland and the
Baltic States. The modernisation of the E75 railway line will
increase the travel speed for passenger trains to 160 km/h with an
option of up to 200 km/h, and for freight traffic to 120 km/h. It
will shorten the travel time on this important transportation
corridor significantly.

The scope of Pöyry's assignment includes a feasibility study
regarding economics, traffic, financing, and all technical aspects
including the specifications for the design and implementation. The
duration of this project will be 24 months.

These assignments are a continuation and expansion of Pöyry's
transportation operations in Poland, where Pöyry has been active for
more than ten years.

Pöyry is a global consulting and engineering firm focusing on the
energy, forest industry and infrastructure & environment sectors.
Pöyry's net sales in 2007 amounted to about EUR 720 million and it
employs 8000 experts.
