Kesko's sales in September 2009

KESKO CORPORATION STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 14.10.2009 AT 09.00 1(2)

The Kesko Group's sales from continuing operations in September 2009
totalled €721.3 million (excluding VAT), which is down by 13.1%
compared with the previous year. In January-September the sales
totalled €6,386.3 million (excluding VAT), which is down by 13.3%.

In the food trade, sales in September were €321.5 million, an
increase of 1.5%. Sales to the K-food store chains were up by 4.2%.

In the home and speciality goods trade, sales in September were
€127.6 million, down by 3.6%. The sales of household goods and
cosmetics developed best. Clothing and home technology sales
decreased over the previous year.

In the building and home improvement trade, sales in September were
€213.7 million, a decrease of 21.4%. Sales in Finland were down by
19.9%, which can, above all, be attributed to the decrease in B-to-B
sales and in the sales of agricultural supplies. In foreign
countries, sales decreased by 22.6% in terms of euros, and by 16.3%
in terms of local currencies. In the Baltic countries, sales were
down by 43.6%. In Russia, sales dropped by 23.7% in terms of euros,
and by 6.4% in terms of the local currency.

In the car and machinery trade, VV-Auto's sales in September were
€48.8 million, which is down by 37.7%. In addition to the market
downturn in the car trade, the sales performance was affected by the
car tax act which came into force in April, because of which car tax
levied on cars after 1 April 2009 is not included in sales figures.
The share of passenger cars imported by VV-Auto out of new
registrations increased to 18.7% in September. Konekesko's sales in
September were €27.0 million, down by 46.7%. Sales decreased by 24.0%
in Finland and by 61.0% in foreign countries as a result of the
weakened machinery market and the downsizing of the Baltic
agricultural trade.
