SSH Communications Security Announces Patent Enforcement Action

Action filed against Sony for Patent Infringement in Germany

HELSINKI--  —SSH Communications Security Oyj today announced that it has filed
patent infringement action in the Landgericht (District Court), Dusseldorf,
Germany against Sony Mobile Communications International. The lawsuit involves
a European Patent registered in Germany covering a technology fundamental to
internet communications used for example in mobile devices and certain network
equipment, including the use of proprietary Internet Telephony implementation
in Sony devices. 

 The patent involved in the lawsuit is the German part of the European Patent
No. 2254311, “Maintaining address translations for data communications”. 

“We are committed to protect our intellectual property, and our preference is
to enter into license arrangements without litigation whenever possible“, said
Erkki Yli-Juuti, Vice President, Intellectual Property at SSH Communications
Security. 

The German patent court is expected to give its ruling in about one year.
