Notification according to Chapter 2, Section 10 of the Finnish Securities Market
Act

Biotie Therapies Corp. ("Company" or "Biotie") has gained knowledge of a
notification regarding changes in holdings in accordance with Chapter 2, Section
9 of the Finnish Securities Markets Act, described below.

The notification received by the Company concerns the changes in holdings of
Invesco Limited (through Invesco Fund Managers Limited)

The mentioned change in holdings is related to the private placement of shares
(the "Offering") described in more detail in a stock exchange release issued on
7 September 2012. In the Offering a total of 46,511,630  newly issued shares
were offered to institutional and strategic investors. As a result of the
Offering and the registration of the offered new shares with the Finnish Trade
Register on or about 17 September 2012, the resulting holdings of shares and
votes in the Company of Invesco Limited (through Invesco Fund Managers Limited)
is as follows:

The number of voting rights and percentages presented above are calculated
taking into account the treasury shares held by the Company or its group
companies at the date of this release.

On the date hereof, the registered number of shares in Biotie is 387,594,457. Of
these shares, 9,169,507 are held by the Company or its group companies.
Subsequent to the completion of the Offering and the registration of the new
shares issued in the Offering, the aggregate number of Biotie shares will be
452,710,738. Of these shares, 9,169,507 will be held by the Company or its group
companies.
