Eva Valkama Appointed Pohjola Group's SVP of Human Resources                    

Eva Valkama (59), M.Sc. (Econ. & Bus. Adm.), has been appointed Pohjola Group's 
Senior Vice President, Human Resources, and Executive Committee member,         
effective as of 1 April 2009. She will be reporting to Mikael Silvennoinen,     
Pohjola Group's President and CEO.                                              

Employed by Pohjola Insurance since 1984, Valkama worked eg as the then Pohjola 
Group plc's SVP, Human Resources, during 2001-03. Since 2005, she has worked as 
Head of Claims and a member of Pohjola Insurance Ltd's Executive Committee.     

From 1 April 2009, Pohjola Group's Executive Committee will comprise Mikael     
Silvennoinen (Chairman), President and CEO; Jouko Pölönen, CFO; Petri Viertiö,  
CRO; Eva Valkama, Senior Vice President, HR Services; Reima Rytsölä, Executive  
Vice President, Banking; Tomi Yli-Kyyny, Executive Vice President, Non-life     
Insurance; and Mikko Koskimies, Executive Vice President, Asset Management.
