Ruukki secures EUR 8 million steel structure contract for Statoil's new Oslo office

Rautaruukki Corporation Stock exchange release 15 October 2010 at 10.30

Ruukki has signed a contract with Skanska Norge AS to design, manufacture and
install the steel structures for Statoil's new regional office to be built at
Fornebu, near Oslo, Norway. Ruukki is closely involved in the different stages
of the project and an installation solution developed for the project had a key
role in reaching the agreement.

The new regional office of the Norwegian company Statoil will be a nine-storey
architecturally unique building, which also makes structural design a challenge.
The building will have five separate rectangular wings stacked on top of each
other as if to form a star. A 1,250-tonne mobile crane, the biggest in the
Nordic countries, will be used to install the structures. In addition to a
demanding installation solution, Ruukki's expertise is also being used in
designing and implementing the fire protection of the building."Ruukki was the natural choice of partner because of its raft of experience in
similar demanding construction projects. We have every confidence in Ruukki's
project management and design competence in demanding projects," says project
manager Jon Johnsen from Skanska."This is again strong proof of the confidence placed in us as a steel
construction expert. It is important to involve us in the structural design at
the very start of a project. This enables us to ensure innovative construction
solutions to meet customer needs," says Sami Eronen, SVP, Infrastructure and
Northern Europe, Ruukki Construction.

The structures for Statoil's new regional office will be manufactured mostly at
Ruukki's unit in Ylivieska, Finland. Deliveries of the steel structures will
begin in December 2010 and on-site installation will start in January 2011. The
building will be ready for occupancy in September 2012.

Ruukki has recently been involved in many demanding construction projects in the
Nordic countries. Recent projects include the new Oslo Opera House, Stockholm
Waterfront Congress Centre, DnB's new head office in Norway and Kilden, the new
theatre and concert hall in Kristiansand, Norway.
