Talvivaara Mining Company Plc (“Talvivaara”) has on 18 June 2009 received the   
attached flagging notification in accordance with Chapter 2, Section 9 of the   
Finnish Securities Market Act from Standard Life Investments Ltd. regarding the 
shares of Talvivaara.                                                           

The holdings of Standard Life Investments Ltd. have fallen below 5% (to 4,949%).
After the change, Standard Life Investments Ltd. holds in aggregate 11,030,240  
ordinary shares of Talvivaara.
