HKScan Oyj - Company Announcement

HKSCAN SHIFTS EMPHASIS IN DEVELOPMENT TO SWEDEN

HKScan Corporation STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE, 4 March 2009 at 10am

HKSCAN SHIFTS EMPHASIS IN DEVELOPMENT TO SWEDEN

The Board of Directors of HKScan has resolved to start planning a new programme
to streamline the business of the company's Swedish arm Scan AB. The Board
considers a new programme warranted because the efficiency programmes
implemented earlier at Scan AB or currently underway have not proved effective
enough to bring the company's profitability up to the sought level.

During the course of the earlier programmes, running since spring 2007, Scan AB
has discontinued operations at the Visby cutting plant, the Uppsala and
Skellefteå slaughterhouses and the production plants in Helsingborg, Malmö and
Kävlinge. Scan's Swinoujscie bacon plant in Poland has also been expanded and
work started on a national distribution centre in Linköping slated to come
online in 2010.

In the view of HKScan's management, the central factors to improve
competitiveness will be to adopt a leaner cost structure at Scan AB over the
next three years, to raise the value-added of products and to improve the
effectiveness of Scan's commercial functions. Scan AB's size, firm market
leadership and leading brands provide a solid foundation for future measures.

NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR FOR SCAN AB

Scan AB has also been appointed a new managing director, the current executive
vice president of HKScan's Baltic Group Olli Antniemi, BSc (Econ & Bus Admin).
His key tasks at Scan will be to plan and implement the new streamlining
programme and to enhance Scan AB's attractiveness as a partner to customers and
consumers alike.

Since 2003, Antniemi has been in charge of the HKScan Group's Baltic
operations. Until 2003, he was marketing director at HK Ruokatalo in Finland.
Mr Antniemi came to the Group in 1996, having served the Huhtamäki Group before
this in positions including a spell with Leaf in the United Kingdom.

As of 4 March 2009, the management team of Scan AB comprises managing director
Olli Antniemi along with director Denis Mattsson, deputy to the managing
director, and Jerker Wetterteg as finance director, production and meat
director Mikael Mörk, director of the supply chain Magnus Lindholm,
informations director Margareta Thorgren, HR director Lennart Claesson and
managing director of Pärsons AB Thomas Olander.

Scan AB's previous managing director Magnus Lagergren and finance director
Matts Rosendahl have decided to resign from the company.

CHANGES IN REPORTING STRUCTURE IN THE BALTIC GROUP

With Olli Antniemi leaving HKScan's Baltic Group to head the Swedish business,
managing directors Anne Mere of AS Rakvere Lihakombinaat and Teet Soorm of AS
Tallegg will report directly to HKScan CEO Matti Perkonoja as of 4 March 2009.
