Lithuanian cheeses awarded in Moscow

Lithuanian dairy “Vilkyškių pieninė” won two awards in the competition
programme of the International Food Industry Exhibition ProdExpo 2013 held in
Moscow. Melted cheese with blue mould and sun-dried tomatoes “Memel Blue” won
the gold medal in the “Best Product of the Year” category. 

The “Innovative Product” prize was awarded to melted cheese with blue mould and
“Bruschetta” spices “Memel Blue”. 

“This international recognition of our products again confirms that orientation
and investment in product quality, exceptionality and attractive presentation
is the right direction. I consider that these awards presented in Moscow will
open up new opportunities for us in the giant Russian market,” claims Gintaras
Bertašius, Director General of “Vilkyškių pieninė”. 

According to him, these awards are not as important as the fact that today
quality matters not only to food industry professionals, but also to an
increasing number of consumers in both Lithuania and neighbouring countries
that import the products of the dairy. 

The jury of ProdExpo 2013 evaluated food products presented in the “Best
Product” category according to the criteria of quality, appearance and package. 

Originality, competitive advantage in the market and advancement of production
technologies were among the criteria when selecting the innovative product. 

Over 2200 food industry representatives from more than 50 countries
participated in the ProdExpo 2013 exhibition. This year the exhibition was
organised for the twentieth time.
