SAMPO'S INTERIM REPORT WILL BE PUBLISHED ON 12 AUGUST 2009                      

Sampo Group will publish Interim Report for January-June 2009 on 12 August 2009 
between 9:30 am and 10:00 am. The Interim Report and additional financial       
material will be available on the Internet at www.sampo.com/ir.                 

Sampo will arrange a press conference on 12 August 2009 at 12:30 pm at Savoy    
(Eteläesplanadi 14, Helsinki). An English-language telephone conference for     
investors and analysts will be held at 4:00 pm Finnish time (2:00 pm UK time).
