2009-10-12 10:30:00 CEST 2009-10-12 10:30:02 CEST REGULATED INFORMATION Stockmann - Company AnnouncementSTOCKMANN GROUP SALES IN SEPTEMBER 2009STOCKMANN plc Company Announcement 12.10.2009 at 11.30 STOCKMANN GROUP SALES IN SEPTEMBER 2009 In September, the Stockmann Group's sales exclusive of Hobby Hall's discontinued operations abroad amounted to EUR 159.6 million, down by 11.8 per cent on September 2008. The Group's euro-denominated sales were affected by the clearly weaker Swedish krona, Norwegian krone and Russian rouble in comparison with sales in September 2008. The sales of autumn collections were hampered by the exceptionally warm weather conditions in all the main markets until the last week of September when the sales picked up and have continued strong since then. Turnover of the Crazy Days campaign of the Department Store Division in Finland, which took place in October, increased by 3 per cent compared to autumn 2008. The Department Store Division's sales declined by 14.7 per cent; 9.2 per cent in Finland and 27.6 per cent abroad. The sales trend in the department stores in the Baltic countries continued to be weak. The rouble- denominated sales in the Russian department stores decreased by 7 per cent. In Russia, there is one department store more than in September 2008. Lindex's sales in local currencies increased by 2 per cent. Lindex's euro- denominated sales decreased by 4.5 per cent; sales were up 3.7 per cent in Finland and down 5.4 per cent abroad. In Seppälä, sales were down 19.1 per cent. Sales declined by 14.5 per cent in Finland and 27.2 per cent abroad. The sales trend in the Baltic countries was clearly weaker than in other markets. In Russia, Seppälä's rouble-denominated sales were on a par with the previous year. Hobby Hall's sales in Finland were down by 17.5 per cent.
