Sampo received a license to exceed 20 per cent in Nordea

SAMPO RECEIVED A LICENSE TO EXCEED 20 PER CENT IN NORDEA                        

Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority has today decided to grant     
Sampo plc a license to increase its holding in Nordea Bank AB (publ) above 20   
per cent.                                                                       

On 20 October 2009 Sampo plc held 800,000,000 shares in Nordea which is         
equivalent to 19.81 per cent of the shares.
