Ruukki Group Oyj - Major shareholder announcements

ANNOUNCEMENT PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 2, SECTION 10 OF THE SECURITIES MARKET ACT

Ruukki Group Plc, Stock Exchange Release, 22 May 2008 at 3:50 p.m.              
Ruukki Group Plc has today received an announcement pursuant to Securities      
Market Act regarding a change in shareholding:                                  

RCS Trading Corporation Ltd (company number 65574B, Nassau, Bahamas) announces  
that as a result of forward contract transactions carried out on 20 May 2008 and
21 May 2008, the ownership of RCS Trading Corporation Ltd in Ruukki Group Plc   
now exceeds one fourth (1/4) of the share capital and voting rights.            

The holdings of RCS Trading Corporation Ltd are now as follows:

Of the forward contracts 37,844,000 will expire in June 2008, 8,774,200 in      
December 2008 and 28,919,600 in January 2009.                                   

In addition to the holdings detailed above, RCS Trading Corporation Ltd         
announces that Danko Koncar, who has a controlling interest in the company, has 
by himself or by third party decided by Danko Koncar right, given one-sided by  
Oy Herttakakkonen Ab, to acquire a total of 30,000,000 Ruukki Group Plc's shares
from Oy Herttakakkonen Ab. In conjunction with this, Danko Koncar announces that
he himself or via companies controlled by him will use this right only partially
in a way that the combined ownership interest in Ruukki Group Plc by him or by  
companies controlled by him will not reach or exceed 30 % of Ruukki Group Plc's 
share capital and voting rights..                                               

Ruukki Group Plc's registered number of shares is 290,034,022 and share capital 
is EUR 23,642,049.60.
