                         Talvivaara Management Changes

Talvivaara  Mining Company Plc ("Talvivaara" or "the Company") announces changes
in  its  management  to  reinforce  and  achieve  the  Company's operational and
financial  targets. Management  changes are  effective from 1 September 2013 and
support Talvivaara's cost efficiency and productivity programme launched in June
2013.

Mr.  Darin Cooper,  BEng, Metallurgy  and MBA  (British citizen, born in 1967),
joins  the Company  as Chief  Operating Officer  and a  member of  the Company's
Executive Committee. Mr. Cooper moves to Talvivaara from the Nyrstar Group. Most
recently Mr. Cooper has served as General Manager for Nyrstar's Clarksville zinc
smelter  in Tennessee, United  States. Mr. Cooper  has 20 years of experience of
base  metals production and smelting as  well as specific experience of projects
aimed at increasing productivity and cost-efficiency.

Following  the changes, the members of the Talvivaara's Executive Committee will
be CEO Pekka Perä, Deputy CEO and Chief Financial Officer Saila Miettinen-Lähde,
Chief  Commercial Officer  Pekka Erkinheimo,  Chief Sustainability  Officer Eeva
Ruokonen,  Chief Human  Resources Officer  Maija Kaski,  Chief Operating Officer
Darin  Cooper, Chief Metals  Production Officer Pertti  Pekkala and Chief Mining
Officer Kari Vyhtinen.

In  addition to  the Executive  Committee, CEO  Pekka Perä  sets up  a Technical
Executive  Committee. Besides  the CEO,  the Technical  Executive Committee will
consist  of Chief Operating Officer Darin Cooper, Chief Metal Production Officer
Pertti  Pekkala, Senior  Vice President  - Projects  Lassi Lammassaari and Chief
Mining Officer Kari Vyhtinen.

Talvivaara's  former Chief Operating Officer Harri Natunen will continue to work
for  the  Company  as  Senior  Vice  President ­- Energy. General Manager, Water
Management  Maija Vidqvist will resign from her position at the end of September
but will continue working for Talvivaara as a consultant.

Talvivaara Mining Company is an internationally significant base metals producer
with  its  primary  focus  on  nickel  and  zinc  using  a  technology  known as
bioheapleaching  to extract metals out  of ore. Bioheapleaching makes extraction
of  metals  from  low  grade  ore  economically  viable. The Talvivaara deposits
comprise  one of the largest known sulphide  nickel resources in Europe. The ore
body  is  estimated  to  support  anticipated  production  for  several decades.
Talvivaara has secured a 10-year off-take agreement for 100 per cent of its main
output  of nickel and cobalt to Norilsk Nickel and entered into a long-term zinc
streaming  agreement with Nyrstar  NV. Talvivaara is  listed on the London Stock
