KONE Oyj: KONE appoints Tomio Pihkala as Executive Vice President to lead installation, quality and safety

Tomio Pihkala (38) has been appointed Executive Vice President responsible for
installation, quality and safety globally as of September 1st, 2013. In this
newly established position Tomio Pihkala will be a member of the Executive Board
and report to Matti Alahuhta, President and CEO, KONE Corporation.

Tomio Pihkala has worked for KONE since 2001, first managing the Toshiba
alliance development in Japan, then in KONE Technology and Research &
Development Center in Hyvinkää Finland. During 2007-2010 he was contributing to
the strong growth in the KONE business in China first as Director for Product
Strategy and Marketing and later as Director for the Service Business. Since the
beginning of 2011 he has been leading KONE's largest Research and Development
Center in Hyvinkää, Finland. Tomio Pihkala has a Master of Science degree in
Mechanical Engineering."Combining installation, quality and safety gives us even better possibilities
