New Biotie Therapies Corp. shares and increase in share capital registered with
the trade register

A total of 176,360,526 new Biotie Therapies Corp. ("Biotie" or "Company") shares
and an increase of EUR 86,374,878.49 in the Company's share capital have been
registered with the Trade Register today on 3 February 2011. Following the
registration, the total number of Biotie shares in issue is 352,364,457 shares
and the Company's share capital is EUR 138,931,556.59. After the registration
with the Trade Register, the new shares rank pari passu with the existing shares
of the Biotie and they shall entitle to any future dividend.

The new shares will be admitted to public trading on 4 February 2011.
