Change of leadership at Viking Line - Jan Hanses succeeds Mikael Backman

Mariehamn, 2014-03-20 09:00 CET (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

Viking Line Abp COMPANY ANNOUNCEMENT 20.3.2014, 10.00 A.M.

Change of leadership at Viking Line - Jan Hanses succeeds Mikael Backman

Viking Line's Board of Directors and its President and CEO, Mikael Backman,
have decided to go their separate ways. The Board is of the opinion that in
recent years, Mr Backman has implemented changes that are important to the
Company, but that the future will require different leadership in facing the
coming challenges.

“The Board is of the opinion that Jan Hanses, currently Deputy CEO, is very
suitable to take on these challenges,” says Ben Lundqvist, Chairman of the
Board.

At the same time, the Board has appointed Andreas Remmer, Chief Financial
Officer, as Executive Vice President and Deputy CEO.

“Viking Line's task is to provide profitable passenger and cargo services. We
must ensure that our customers are satisfied with the product we deliver and
that our employees feel motivated to exceed customer expectations. Our
operations must be characterised by stability, while making the best possible
use of our employees' knowledge. It is with great respect and confidence that I
accept this challenge,” says Jan Hanses, the new President and CEO of the
Company.

These organisational changes go into effect on March 20, 2014.
