The recipients are Lappeenranta University of Technology (EUR 35,000), University of Vaasa (EUR 25,000), Aalto University (EUR 20,000) and Tampere University of Technology (EUR 20,000). The Annual General Meeting of Vacon Plc, held on 23 March 2010, decided to grant a donation to one or more Finnish universities in the maximum amount of EUR 100,000 to support the fund-raising of the universities. At the same time, the Annual General Meeting resolved to authorize the company's Board to decide on the practical matters related to the donation such as the recipients and the detailed donation terms. - The Finnish educational system and first-class university education have been important to Vacon's success, and this will be so in the future, too. Therefore, Vacon's Board of Directors made a decision in September which expresses the company's will to support university-level education and research in technological disciplines in our country, says Jan Inborr, Chairman of Vacon's Board of Directors. After the reform of the Finnish Universities Act, the universities are facing new challenges and new opportunities.
