RAUTE GETS PREPARED FOR CONTINUED WORK UNDERLOADING AND INITIATES NEGOTIATIONS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE ACT ON CO-OPERATION AT THE NASTOLA PLANT

RAUTE GETS PREPARED FOR CONTINUED WORK UNDERLOADING AND INITIATES NEGOTIATIONS
IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE ACT ON CO-OPERATION AT THE NASTOLA PLANT 

Raute Corporation continues adapting its operations to the weak continuing      
market situation and initiates negotiations in compliance with the Act on       
Co-operation concerning the hourly workers in the production of the Nastola     
plant. During the 6 weeks continuing negotiations with the representatives of   
the hourly workers, a solution is sought for additional adjustment measures for 
the temporary lay-offs agreed on in December 2008 and in May 2009. The company  
strives primarily to adapt the operations through temporary lay-offs of         
different duration and working hour arrangements. The additional adaptation     
measures subject to the negotiations concern at most 135 hourly workers. The    
previously taken adaptation measures concerning the other personnel are adequate
for the time being.                                                             

The interruption of the production activity at Raute's Jyväskylä plant continues
further and all hourly workers in the production of the Jyväskylä plant are laid
off for the time being.                                                         

Raute Group's total headcount at the end of September was 530, of which 406     
persons work in Finland.
