CARGOTEC CORPORATION, STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE, 27 SEPTEMBER AT 4 P.M. EEST

Cargotec is investing approximately EUR 35 million in building an innovative
Technology and Competence Centre in Tampere, Finland, during years 2011-2013.
The foundation stone of the centre was laid today. Modern facilities and an
extensive test area will be located on a ten-hectare industrial site close to
Tampere University of Technology.

The centre forms part of Cargotec's global network of competence centres and it
develops Industrial and Terminal business area's innovative solutions for the
benefit of customers."Tampere is our important centre of technology development. It serves as the
spearhead for technologies related to energy efficiency and the intelligent use
of machines. Many of Cargotec's current solutions were not even imaginable some
decades ago, but are now leading examples of technology in their field. We are
creating the future of container handling in Tampere. Forthcoming co-operation
with the Tampere University of Technology, research institutions and companies
manufacturing mobile equipment will no doubt be inspiring", comments Cargotec's
President and CEO Mikael Mäkinen.

The site will host Cargotec's most extensive test area, in order to facilitate
the testing and simulation of various solutions, including automated equipment
and fleets, navigation systems and remote steering and control. The research and
product development laboratories of the new centre will also be utilised in the
introduction of new components and technologies. According to plan, the new
centre will be operational in December 2012.

Cargotec supports sustainable development in the best possible way by investing
in the development of new energy efficient solutions, since the main
environmental effects of Cargotec's operations are generated through the use of
its products. At the new facility, Cargotec is also striving to minimise the
environmental impacts of its operations. For instance, the new facility is a
forerunner in energy efficiency in office buildings in Finland.
