Ruukki Group Oyj - Major shareholder announcements

ANNOUNCEMENT PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 2, SECTION 10 OF THE SECURITIES MARKET ACT

Ruukki Group Plc, Stock Exchange Announcement, 21 May 2008 at 2:50 p.m.        

Ruukki Group Plc has received an announcement pursuant to Securities Market Act 
chapter 2, section 9 regarding a change in shareholding.                        

Nordea Bank AB (publ) (Swedish registration number 516406-0120) announces that  
its Finnish subsidiary Nordea Bank Finland Plc (1680235-8) has on Tuesday 20 May
2008 purchased 13,889,300 Ruukki Group Plc shares.                              

Nordea Bank Finland Plc now holds 62,702,300 Ruukki Group Plc shares i.e. its   
ownership has exceeded 1/5 and is 21.61 % of the share capital and voting rights
of Ruukki Group Plc.                                                            

In addition, Nordea Henkivakuutus Suomi Oy (business ID 09227072-8), the Finnish
subsidiary of Nordea Bank AB (publ), holds 188,500 Ruukki Group Plc shares  i.e.
0.06 % of the share capital and voting rights of Ruukki Group Plc.              

As a result of the share purchase of Nordea Bank Finland Plc, the total         
ownership of Nordea Group has exceeded 1/5 and is 21.68 % (62,890,800 shares) of
the share capital and voting rights of Ruukki Group Plc.                        

Nordea Bank Finland Plc has also sold forward contracts of which 51,151         
(5,115,100 shares) will expire in May 2008, 198,900 (19,890,000 shares) will    
expire in June 2008, 87,742 (8,774,200 shares) will expire in December 2008 and 
289,196 (28,919,600 shares) will expire in January 2009. As the May 2008 forward
contracts expire, the ownership of Nordea Bank Finland Plc and Nordea Group will
fall below 1/5, as the June 2008 forward contracts expire, below 3/20 and as the
January 2009 forward contracts expire, below 1/20 of the share capital and      
voting rights of Ruukki Group Plc.                                              

Nordea Bank Finland Plc has purchased Ruukki Group shares as a part of its      
market making operations.                                                       

Ruukki Group Plc's registered number of shares is 290,034,022 shares and share  
capital is EUR 23,642,049.60.
