RUUKKI GROUP COMMENTS MARKET RUMOURS                                            

Ruukki Group has published earlier its intention to actively survey             
opportunities to expand its minerals business. There has been some market       
rumours in relation to potential transactions. With a reference to the rules and
regulations in Finland, especially NASDAQ OMX Helsinki rules and the market     
practise in Finland, Ruukki hereby confirms that it has entered into discussions
with various parties.                                                           

However, in addition to the discussions no resolutions and / or binding         
agreements have been made, and there may or may not be any final outcome. If the
discussions lead to an outcome, Ruukki will inform about this in due course.    
Ruukki will not comment any market rumours further.
