                Change in the composition of Talvivaara's Board

Michael Rawlinson stepping down from the Board due to his new executive position
                              outside the Company

The  Board of  Directors of  Talvivaara Mining  Company Plc ("Talvivaara" or the"Company")  announces today  that a  non-executive member  of the Board, Michael
Rawlinson, is stepping down from his Board member position with immediate effect
due  to him  taking up  a new  role as  Co-Head of Mining at Barclays investment
bank.

Chairman  of the Board  Tapani Järvinen comments:  We would like to congratulate
Michael  for his new appointment. Unfortunately this means that he has to resign
from  the Board of Directors  of Talvivaara. He has  been very valuable asset on
the  Board with his extensive understanding of mining and metals industry and in
particular  understanding of related financing. We wish  him all the best in his
new role and want to thank Michael for his service to the Company.

Talvivaara Mining Company is an internationally significant base metals producer
with  its  primary  focus  on  nickel  and  zinc  using  a  technology  known as
bioheapleaching  to extract metals out  of ore. Bioheapleaching makes extraction
of  metals  from  low  grade  ore  economically  viable. The Talvivaara deposits
comprise  one of the largest known sulphide  nickel resources in Europe. The ore
body  is  estimated  to  support  anticipated  production  for  several decades.
Talvivaara has secured a 10-year off-take agreement for 100 per cent of its main
output  of nickel and cobalt to Norilsk Nickel and entered into a long-term zinc
streaming  agreement  with  Nyrstar.  Talvivaara  is  listed on the London Stock
