Heikki Malinen appointed as President and CEO of Pöyry Plc, Tapio Korpeinen appointed as UPM's Senior Vice President, Strategy function

UPM-Kymmene Corporation   Changes in management  January 22, 2008  at 9:00      

Heikki Malinen, Executive Vice President, Strategy, and member of UPM's         
Executive Team has been appointed President and CEO of the international        
consultancy and engineering company Pöyry Plc as of 1 June 2008.                

Tapio Korpeinen has been appointed Senior Vice President and team leader of     
UPM's Strategy function as of 1 February 2008. Korpeinen will report to Jussi   
Pesonen, President and CEO. He has earlier reported to Heikki Malinen as Vice   
President, Corporate Development.                                               
Jussi Pesonen says that after Heikki Malinen's two-year period as Head of       
Strategy, the strategy function has clear direction, well-defined areas of      
responsibility and strong resources. It has been agreed that Heikki Malinen will
be available during the spring months to ensure a smooth transition.
