Kaupthing Bank hf. sold today 6 August 2008 a total of 1,624,000 of
its own shares at the price of 303 ISK per share to Sigurdur
Einarsson, Executive Chairman and Hreidar Mar Sigurdsson, CEO, in
connection with their exercising of stock option agreements.

After these transactions, Kaupthing Bank hf. holds 36,600,803 shares
in the bank of which a total of 3,147,836 shares are held in the
Bank's books as a hedge against derivative contracts with clients.
