Suominen Flexibles to start employee negotiations at the Tampere plant

SUOMINEN CORPORATION STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 30 OCTOBER 2009 AT 1.20 P.M.

SUOMINEN FLEXIBLES TO START EMPLOYEE NEGOTIATIONS AT THE TAMPERE PLANT

Changes in the market situation have deteriorated the business conditions of
fruit and vegetable packaging product group of Suominen Flexibles. As a result,
Suominen Flexibles has today given a negotiation proposal to the representatives
of employee groups at the Tampere plant according to Co-Determination Act.

The negotiations concern possible termination of production of fruit and
vegetable bags on the roll. In addition, the negotiations concern some line
transfers in order to improve efficiency and to meet the increasing hygiene
requirements. Efficiency-enhancement measures are made to secure long-term
competitiveness of operations.

The negotiations concerning the workforce of the Tampere plant will begin on 5
November 2009. Possible headcount reduction is approximately 25 people including
both white- and blue-collar employees.

Suominen Flexibles produces hygiene, food and retail packaging at its Tampere
plant. The plant employs approximately 230 people.
