SALCOMP INTRODUCES OWN CHARGER BRAND IN RETAIL SALES

SALCOMP INTRODUCES OWN CHARGER BRAND IN RETAIL SALES                            

Salcomp has introduced an own charger brand. Accessory chargers under the CHARGZ
brand will be sold through the main retail channels, including consumer         
electronics, travel and office superstores, as well as through operators. The   
launch will first take place in North America followed by Asia-Pacific and      
Europe.                                                                         

“Introducing an own brand is a big, but at the same time a natural strategic    
step for Salcomp, as we have 35 years' experience in developing and             
manufacturing chargers. Although chargers sold directly to mobile phone         
manufacturers still remain our core business, we also want to be involved in    
this growing segment of accessory chargers,” says Markku Hangasjärvi, President 
and CEO of Salcomp.                                                             

According to market research institutes, approximately 200 million mobile phone 
accessory chargers, including car chargers, is globally sold at year level.     
Sales of accessory chargers are estimated to grow in the coming years due to    
increasing offering of smart phones as well as on-going standardization of the  
charger technologies. In addition, the growing demand for car chargers along    
with the increasing amount of mobile phones with navigation capabilities will   
grow further the accessory charger sales.                                       

“Our target is to build up CHARGZ as a strong and recognized consumer brand in  
the accessory charger market. With our own distinguishable brand, we want to    
generate consumers' attention. CHARGZ brand involves the same promise as        
Salcomp's other chargers: high quality, safety and environmentally friendly     
features,” says Antero Palo, Corporate Vice President, Sales & Marketing of     
Salcomp.                                                                        

The first products will be at the shop shelves during the last quarter of this  
year in North America. They will include small and energy-efficient USB         
chargers, as well as car chargers. For the new segment, Salcomp has reinforced  
the global sales and R&D organizations in North America, Asia-Pacific and       
Europe.
