STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 12 May 2014 at 9.00 EET 

Stora Enso Oyj was informed on 9 May 2014 that after a return of shares lent
out by Norges Bank (The Central Bank of Norway), the number of shares in Stora
Enso Oyj held by Norges Bank has exceeded 5% of the paid-up share capital and
the number of shares in Stora Enso Oyj on 8 May 2014. 

With reference to Chapter 9, paragraph 10 of the Finnish Securities Markets
Act, Stora Enso Oyj is reporting that as of 8 May 2014 the shareholding of
Norges Bank is as follows:
