RUUKKI GROUP PLC'S CANCELLATION OF OWN SHARES REGISTERED

RUUKKI GROUP PLC'S CANCELLATION OF OWN SHARES REGISTERED                        

Ruukki Group Plc's Board of Directors decided on 18 January 2010 to cancel      
13,052,022 own shares held by the company. The cancellation of own shares has   
today been registered at the Trade Register. The registered number of shares is 
now 247,982,000. The cancellation did not affect the company's share capital    
which is EUR 23,642,049.60.                                                     

After the cancellation, the number of treasury shares held by Ruukki Group Plc  
is 8,735,895 shares, which corresponds to about 3.52% of the registered number  
of shares. Therefore, pursuant to Securities Market Act chapter 2, section 9,   
Ruukki Group Plc announces that the number of treasury shares held by the       
company has fallen below 5% of the number of Ruukki Group Plc shares registered 
in the Trade Register.
