SCAN ENHANCES OPERATIONS IN SOUTHERN SWEDEN

Scan AB, which is part of the HK Ruokatalo Group concern, is
establishing a joint venture with Team Ugglarp AB to engage in
slaughtering operations at the Team Ugglarp production plant in Hörby,
in the heart of the meat-producing region of Skåne. The slaughtering
of all beef cattle and sheep procured by Scan in southern Sweden will
be centralised in Hörby.

The establishment of this joint venture is part of a wider development
programme at Scan seeking to enhance the company's cost-effectiveness
through e.g. reducing industrial overcapacity.

The pending joint venture (50/50) will focus only on slaughtering and
will have no impact on its owners competing in procurement or sales.
It is projected that the new production company will be ready to
launch operations in spring 2008, once certain changes in production
have been implemented.

Team Ugglarp AB, established in 1969, is one of the largest family-
owned businesses in the Swedish meat sector.
