Kesko's May sales increased by 3.2%

Kesko's May sales increased by 3.2%

The Kesko Group's sales from continuing operations in May 2008 totalled €865.3
million (excluding VAT) and showed an increase of 3.2% over the corresponding
period of the previous year. In January-May, the sales from continuing
operations were €4,072.8 million (excluding VAT), up 7.9%. The sales from
foreign operations in May were €200.5 million, an increase of 7.7%. Foreign
operations accounted for 23% of the Group's sales. 

Kesko Food's sales were €342.5 million in May, representing an increase of
4.4%. Grocery sales to K-food store chains grew by 6.9%. 

Rautakesko's sales grew by 3.1% to €251.1 million in May. Sales in Finland were
down by 7.5%. Abroad, the combined sales increase was 10.3%. Sales in the
Baltic countries increased by 0.6% and Stroymaster's sales in Russia by 37.6%. 

VV-Auto's sales were €82.2 million in May, which was 0.3% less than in the
previous year. In Finland, first registrations of passenger cars increased by
8.4% in May. The market share of passenger cars represented by VV-Auto was
16.9% (14.7%). VV-Auto's sales trend was affected by the decrease in passenger
cars' average price and the slackening in demand for vans. 

Anttila's sales were €40.8 million in May, up 3.2%. The sales of department
stores increased by 5.3%, the sales of Kodin Ykkönen stores by 0.4%, and the
sales of NetAnttila in Finland by 2.2%. 

Kesko Agro's sales were €84.7 million in May, up 7.7%. Sales in Finland
increased by 8.2% due to the growth in the grain and fertiliser trade. Sales in
the Baltic countries grew by 6.9% due to the grain trade.

Other operating activities consist of Konekesko, Intersport Finland, Indoor
Group, Musta Pörssi and Kenkäkesko. 

On 28 February 2008, the Kesko Group classified Kauko-Telko, and on 31 March
2008, Tähti Optikko Group as discontinuing operations, and the sales of those
operating activities are not included in the above figures. 

Starting from July 2007, Rautakesko's sales figures include the sales of OMA,
the Belarusian subsidiary of Rautakesko's subsidiary Senukai. 

Change,% indicates the change over the corresponding period of the previous
year. 

In May 2008, the number of selling days in Kesko's wholesale was 21, which was
the same as in May 2007. In January-May, the total number of wholesale selling
days was one more than in the previous year. The number of retail days in May
was two more than the year before. 

Kesko publishes advance information about the K-Group's retail sales quarterly,
in connection with the interim financial reports.
