Benchmark Issue of EUR 750 million from Pohjola                                 

On 17 August 2009, Pohjola Bank plc will issue a EUR 750 million bond under its 
EMTN programme in international capital markets. The bond has a maturity of     
three years with variable-rate interest.                                        

Barclays Capital, HSBC, Pohjola Bank plc and UBS will act as joint lead         
managers, and the issue will be listed on the London Stock Exchange.
