Ruukki Group Oyj - Major shareholder announcements

ANNOUNCEMENT PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 2, SECTION 10 OF THE SECURITIES MARKET ACT

Ruukki Group Plc, Stock Exchange Release, 22 May 2008 at 1:35 p.m. 

Ruukki Group Plc has today received from Helsingin Mekaanikontalo Oy and        
Procomex S.A. announcements pursuant to Securities Market Act regarding a change
in shareholding.                                                                

According to the announcement of Helsingin Mekaanikontalo Oy (business ID number
1076761-9) it has on 21 May 2008 sold 289,196 forward contracts which correspond
to 28,919,600 Ruukki Group Plc's shares. As a result, Helsingin Mekaanikontalo  
Oy's holdings have fallen below one twentieth (1/20) of the share capital and   
voting rights of Ruukki Group Plc                                               

In addition, the combined holdings of Helsingin Mekaanikontalo Oy and Procomex  
S.A. (registration number R.C. Luxembourg B 57.877) have fallen below one tenth 
(1/10) of the share capital and voting rights of Ruukki Group Plc.              

In consequence of the aforementioned transactions, the ownership of Procomex    
S.A. and Helsingin Mekaanikontalo Oy in Ruukki Group Plc are the following:

Forward contracts of Procomex S.A. mature in June 2008.                         

Procomex S.A. has on 26 March 2008 disclosed having entered into contractual    
arrangements due to which the holdings of Procomex S.A. in Ruukki Group Plc may 
decrease below 5 % or exceed 25 % of the shares in the company. Procomex S.A.   
discloses now that it is no longer a party to contractual arrangements mentioned
above the exercise of which could lead to Procomex S.A. taking physical delivery
of or assigning Ruukki Group Plc shares.                                        

Ruukki Group Plc's registered number of shares is 290,034,022 and share capital 
is EUR 23,642,049.60.
