Litgrid Prepared the Unbundling Plan

Vilnius, Lithuania, 2012-03-30 15:50 CEST (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On 30 March 2012,
Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid presented the
National Control Commission for Prices and Energy (NCCPE) with a detailed
action plan for the unbundling of the company from the vertically-integrated
company group. It is planned that the activity of Lithuanian electricity
transmission operator Litgrid will be split from the vertically-integrated
group of Visagino Atominė Elektrinė UAB, which currently holds Litgrid's
controlling interest.

All of the European Union Member States are required to separate electricity
transmission activities from production, supply and distribution. The
corresponding set of provisions was transposed into the national legislative
base of Lithuania following the approval of the new Law on Electricity, which
came into effect on 7 February 2012.

Litgrid is the Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator in charge of
electricity transmission and electric power balance, ensuring renewable energy
source integration in the transmission system, and providing public obligation
services. Litgrid is implementing the strategic national energy projects,
including international electricity interconnections NordBalt and LitPol Link,
and is responsible for the national energy system's development and
full-fledged integration into the common European electricity network and the
Continental European Net.
