2009-06-12 12:30:00 CEST 2009-06-12 12:30:16 CEST REGULATED INFORMATION Stockmann - Company AnnouncementSTOCKMANN GROUP SALES IN MAY 2009STOCKMANN plc Company Announcement 12.6.2009 at 13.30 STOCKMANN GROUP SALES IN MAY 2009 The Stockmann Group's euro-denominated sales in May were EUR 167.6 million, down 11.4 per cent on the previous year. Due to a calendar effect, there were two trading days less in the Nordic markets compared to 2008. The downturn in economy as well as the devaluation of the Swedish krona, the Norwegian krone and the Russian rouble diminished the euro- denominated sales compared with May 2008. In May 2009, the Department Store Division's sales declined by 13.2 per cent, 12.5 per cent in Finland and 15.3 per cent abroad. In Russia, the rouble-nominated sales of the department stores increased by 5 per cent, while the euro-denominated sales decreased by 11 per cent. Sales in the Baltic department stores were somewhat weaker than in the other markets. Lindex's sales in local currencies decreased by 2 per cent and the euro- nominated sales by 11.4 per cent. Sales in Finland grew by 1.8 per cent and were down by 13.1 per cent abroad. Seppälä's euro-denominated sales decreased by 5.3 per cent, 5.7 per cent in Finland and 4.2 per cent abroad. In Russia, Seppälä's rouble- denominated sales increased by 25 per cent and increased even in euros by 6 per cent. Hobby Hall's sales decreased by 6.3 per cent. Sales increased by 1.8 per cent in Finland and decreased by 39.0 per cent in the Baltic countries. As informed earlier, Hobby Hall has decided to withdraw from the Baltic markets by the autumn 2009.
