Exista hf. - Major shareholder announcements

CORRECTION: Flagging over 10% of share capital

Nýi Kaupþing banki hf. has today announced that on 11 December 2008 the bank
owned a total of 6,694,907,456 shares in Exista hf., or 10.43% of total share
capital. Before the transaction Nýi Kaupþing banki hf. held 287,001,781 shares
in Exista. The shares were acquired as a result of an enforcement procedure.
