Atria to centralise production of cured sausages

Atria to centralise production of cured sausages

Atria is centralising its production of cured sausages at Atria Scandinavia's
production plant in Denmark. The aim is to improve productivity and ensure the
continuity of the company's production of cured sausages. Atria is the leading
manufacturer of cured sausages in Denmark. Production of cured sausages at the
Kuopio factory will be discontinued in the autumn of 2013. 

Atria is committed to using Finnish meat raw material in Atria branded
products, and it will continue to do so in the future. All sausages for the
Finnish market are produced using raw material from Finnish farms. 

The centralisation of production is expected to generate annual cost savings of
approximately EUR 0,3 million. 

“We have thoroughly examined all of the options for the production of cured
sausages. Continuing production in Kuopio and building a new factory for cured
sausages in one of the other units of Atria Finland are expensive options,”
says Managing Director of Atria Finland Mika Ala-Fossi. 

“We want to strengthen our position in manufacturing cured sausages also in the
future. The most cost-effective option for maintaining operating conditions is
to manufacture cured sausages at our factory in Denmark. Our production plant
is modern and has the required capacity.” 

Employer-employee negotiations concerning the reorganisation plans have been
completed. The negotiations have affected a total of 18 people at the Kuopio
production plant. Meat shop and maintenance department will be discontinued no
later than in the autumn of 2014. All Atria employees from the Kuopio
production plant will be offered the opportunity to be transferred to other
units of the company.
