DISCLOSURE UNDER CHAPTER 2 SECTION 9 OF THE SECURITIES MARKET ACT               

Sampo plc (business code 0142213-3) has on 11 December 2008 received a          
disclosure under Chapter 2, Section 9 of the Securities Markets Act, according  
to which the total number of Sampo A shares and related voting rights owned by  
the State of Finland has on 11 December 2009 fell below one twentieth (1/20) and
the total number of Sampo A shares and related voting rights owned by the       
entirely state-owned Solidium Oy (business code 0142213-3) risen above one tenth
(1/10) of Sampo plc's entire stock and voting rights.                           

The changes in ownerships are due to transferring the shares to Solidium Oy as a
contribution in kind in compliance with the Finnish Limited Liability Companies 
act. Sampo announced the State of Finland's plan to transfer the shares to      
Solidium Oyj on 23 October 2008. After the transfer of the shares has been      
completed the State of Finland holds no Sampo plc's shares.                     

The total number of shares transferred to Solidium Oy and the share of related  
voting rights are as follows:

Sampo's share capital comprises 561,372,390 shares, of which 560,172,390 are A  
shares and 1,200,000 are B shares. Each A share entitles its holder to one (1)  
vote and each B share to five (5) votes. Thus, the total number of votes is     
566,172,390.
