RAISIO TO GAIN ADDITIONAL RIGHTS TO STANOL ESTER AND BENECOL BRAND

RAISIO TO GAIN ADDITIONAL RIGHTS TO STANOL ESTER AND BENECOL BRAND              

Raisio and its United States' partner, McNeil Nutritionals, LLC, and its        
European partner, Cilag GmbH International, have signed an amendment to their   
agreement that will return the rights to the stanol ester compound to Raisio in 
the United States, Great Britain, France, Ireland, and Benelux countries.  In   
addition, Raisio will gain rights to the Benecol brand in France and the United 
States in categories in which McNeil and Cilag are not currently active. In     
return Raisio will make royalty payments and provide marketing support to McNeil
and Cilag.                                                                      

Cilag will retain exclusive rights to the Benecol brand in Great Britain,       
Ireland, Belgium, and Luxembourg. McNeil and Cilag will also retain rights in   
the categories in which they currently hold strong positions in both France and 
the United States.                                                              

Raisio aims to be an active player in the growing European, Asian and United    
States markets for cholesterol-lowering functional foods by introducing         
innovative product applications. Raisio's strength in different market areas is 
its adaptability. This means that Benecol brand products are launched in the    
market with local partners in applications matching the local consumption       
habits.
