RUUKKI GROUP ACQUIRES MAJORITY OF POHJOLAN DESIGN-SÄHKÖ OY

Pohjolan Design-Talo Oy, the parent company of the house building business
segment of Ruukki Group Plc, has acquired the majority of Pohjolan Design-Sähkö
Oy, which is a company specialising in electricity contracting and services.
The acquired company is a long-term subcontractor and partner of Pohjolan
Design-Talo Oy. The acquired company domiciles in Ii. The purchase price is EUR
1.5 million. According to Kimmo Kurkela, managing director of Pohjolan
Design-Talo Oy, this acquisition will ensure the supply chain management when
outsourced electricity installations are controlled in-house. 

After the transaction, Ruukki Group has a 70.1 % stake in Pohjolan Design-Sähkö
Oy. The management of the acquired company holds the minority. Pohjolan
Design-Sähkö Oy's revenue for financial year 2006 totaled about EUR 3.8
million. The expected effect on Ruukki Group's consolidated revenue for
financial year 2007 is somewhat below EUR 2.0 million and the effect on
operating profit positive. 

At the same instant it has been agreed that Pohjolan Design-Talo Oy's current
heating, refrigerating and air-conditioning business line will be sold to
Pohjolan Design-Sähkö Oy, whose name will be changed to Design-Talotekniikka
Oy. By this arrangement the house building business segment targets to enhance
quality control and to increase operative efficiency. The combined electricity,
heating, refrigerating and air-conditioning businesses employ altogether 41
professionals.
