Regarding the decommissioning of the units 5 and 6 of Lithuanian power plant owned by “Lietuvos energijos gamyba”, AB

Elektrėnai, Lithuania, 2015-12-07 16:15 CET (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Board of
Lietuvos energijos gamyba AB (company code 302648707, registered at Elektrinės
g. 21, Elektrėnai, hereinafter referred to as the Company), implementing the
strategy of the Company and taking into account the opinion of the the
Supervisory Board, adopted the decision on 7 December 2015 on decommissioning
of Units 5 and 6 of the Lithuanian Power Plant from 1 January 2016. Dismantling
of the Units 5 and 6 is expected to start once dismantling of the Units 1 and 2
of the Lithuanian Power Plant is completed (preliminarily, early 2017). 

The Units 5 and 6 of the Lithuanian Power Plant (300 MW capacity, each)
launched in 1967–1968 were currently under conservation. The Units are being
decommissioned due to their poor technical condition, low use potential in the
future and high maintenance costs.
