NOTICE ON RENEWED NEGOTIATIONS ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PETRAŠIŪNAI PROJECT

Elektrenai, Lithuania, 2012-02-24 11:45 CET (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lietuvos
energija, AB (hereinafter referred to as the Company) hereby informs that the
Board of the Company passed a decision to renew negotiations with AB Kauno
energija on the implementation of the construction project of a biofuel
cogeneration power plant in the territory of Petrašiūnai Power Plant, Kaunas. 

The joint project between AB Kauno energija and the Company is expected to
ensure a more competitive heat energy price to consumers in Kaunas. The project
will also help to implement the plans of Kaunas City Municipality, AB Kauno
energija and the Company to expand the use of renewable energy sources (RES)
for the generation of heat and electricity, thus largely contributing to the
implementation of the Government's priorities set forth in the National Energy
Strategy: to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted during the
generation of heat energy and to increase the share of heat and electricity
produced from RES in the final energy consumption balance.
