2010-09-07 08:00:00 CEST 2010-09-07 08:00:03 CEST REGULATED INFORMATION Finnair Oyj - Company AnnouncementFINNAIR'S ASIAN TRAFFIC AND CARGO CONTINUE TO GROWFINNAIR PLC STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 7 September 2010 AT 09:00 Finnair's Asian traffic grew in August by nearly 9%, measured in passenger kilometres, compared with last year. Passenger numbers also grew to the same extent. "In line with our main strategy, Asian traffic is doing well and now ticket prices are reaching a more healthy level. The passenger load factor also continues to be good, despite a slight fall," says Finnair's SVP Communications Christer Haglund. European traffic declined in August by nearly 4% compared with August last year. In domestic traffic, capacity was increased by more than 10% and traffic grew by half of one per cent. North Atlantic traffic was more than 27% lower in August, mainly due to a change in the number of weekly flights to New York from ten to seven. This was evident in a nearly 23% reduction in capacity. In scheduled traffic, load factors fell by nearly three percentage points compared with August last year, mainly due, however, to exceptionally high figures last year resulting from campaign pricing. Leisure traffic declined by more than 9% in August. Capacity was cut by more than 13%, so the load factor rose by more than three percentage points to just over 82%. The amount of cargo carried by Finnair grew in August by more than 43% compared with August last year. In scheduled traffic, the amount of cargo grew by more than 22% and cargo flights initiated this year are also reflected in the figures. Of Finnair's flights, 90% arrived on schedule in August, which represents a decline of nearly three percentage points from August last year. In scheduled traffic, punctuality was over 90%, which was also just less than three percentage points lower than the previous August.
