Changes to the Board of Directors of the Housing Financing Fund


Kristrún Heimisdóttur has retired from the Board of Directors of the Housing
Financing Fund (HFF), as she has just accepted a posting as the Managing
Director of the Federation of Icelandic Industries. 

The Minister of Welfare, Eygló Harðardóttir, has appointed Steinunn Valdís
Óskarsdóttir to the Board of HFF to replace Kristrún. 

Steinnun completed her university entrance exam from Menntaskólinn við Sund in
1986 and received a BA degree in history from the University of Iceland in
1992. She took public administration courses at the University of Iceland from
2006-7. 

Steinunn was a member of the City Council of Reykjavík from 1994-2007 and was
the Mayor of Reykjavík from 2004 to 2006. She was a member of the Alþingi
(Icelandic parliament) from 2007-10. She was, moreover, Vice-President of the
Alþingi and a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in
Strasbourg from 2009-10. She has been employed as an expert in the Ministry of
the Interior since 2011. 

Steinunn has held various positions of responsibility, including as a member of
the Board of Reykjavík Energy from 1998-2004, whereof she was Vice-Chair from
2002-4. She was a member of the Board of the Women's Loan Guarantee Fund from
1998-2004 and again from 2011 to 2013 as Chairman. She was the Chairman of
Civil Protection Committee for the greater Reykjavík area from 2004-6 and was a
member of the Board of the Association of Local Authorities from 2002-7,
Landsvirkjun from 2006-7, Associated Icelandic Ports from 2006-8 and the
Pension Fund of Employees of the City of Reykjavík from 2006-8.
