Kesko's January sales increased by 10.5%

Kesko's January sales increased by 10.5%                                        

The Kesko Group's sales, excluding VAT, in January 2008 totalled €799.6 million,
an increase of 10.5% over the corresponding period of the previous year. In     
January, the sales from foreign operations were €157.0 million, accounting for  
19.6% of the Group's sales.                                                     

Kesko Food's sales increased by 7.8% in January. The sales of all K-food store  
chains developed well.                                                          

Rautakesko's sales grew by 16.8% to €191.5 million in January. Sales in Finland 
were up by 16.5%. Abroad, sales increased by 17.1%. In the Baltic countries,    
sales increased by 10.7% and in Russia by 39.7%.                                

VV-Auto's sales were €119.3 million in January, which was 14.5% more than in the
previous year. In Finland, first registrations of passenger cars increased by   
27.6% in January. The market share of passenger cars represented by VV-Auto was 
17.3% (15.2%).  First registrations of passenger cars represented by VV-Auto    
were up by 45.2% in January.                                                    

Anttila's sales in January were €46.3 million, up 12.0%. The increase is mainly 
attributable to the brisk sales of home electronics, information technology and 
home goods. The sales of Kodin Ykkönen department stores increased by 23.1% and 
those of Anttila department stores by 11.0%.                                    

Kesko Agro's sales in January were €51.9 million, up 3.4%. Sales in Finland     
decreased by 8.1% as a result of declined sales of animal feed and fertilizers. 
Sales in the Baltic countries grew by 35.3%, which is attributable to the grain 
trade.

Other operating activities consist of Konekesko, Intersport Finland, Indoor     
Group, Musta Pörssi, Kenkäkesko, Tähti Optikko Group and Kauko-Telko.           

Kesko is looking into opportunities to dispose of Kauko-Telko. Kauko-Telko will 
be classified as a discontinuing operation in compliance with the IFRS 5 when it
meets the criteria of the standard.                                             

Starting from July 2007, Rautakesko's sales figures include the sales of OMA,   
the Belorussian subsidiary of Rautakesko's subsidiary Senukai.                  

Change, % indicates the change over the corresponding period of the previous    
year.                                                                           

In January 2008, the number of trading days in Kesko's wholesale was 22, which  
was the same as in January 2007.                                                

Kesko publishes advance information about the K-Group's retail sales quarterly, 
in connection with the interim financial reports.
