- Century Aluminum Announces Exercise of Over-Allotment Option


MONTEREY, CA--(Marketwire - July 14, 2008) - Century Aluminum Company (NASDAQ:
CENX) today announced the underwriters of its public offering of 6,500,000
shares of common stock have exercised in full the over-allotment option granted
to them by the Company. As a result, the Company will sell an additional
975,000 shares of its common stock at the offering price of $62.25 per share. 

Including the exercise of the over-allotment option, the net proceeds from the
offering, after deducting underwriting discounts and commissions, are expected
to be approximately $442 million. 

As previously announced, the Company expects to use the net proceeds of the
offering to pay a portion of the deferred portion of the cash payment
associated with the termination of the financial sales contracts with Glencore. 

Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC and Morgan Stanley & Co. Incorporated are
acting as underwriters for the offering.
