Lietuvos Energija AB had announced that during the extraordinary shareholders meeting of Lietuvos Energija AB, held on September 8, 2009 a resolution on allowing the establishment of daughter companies was reached, one of which will perform electricity transmission, the other - electricity supply activity. The company confirms that these activities are conducted with regard to Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council approved on July 13, 2009 concerning common rules for the internal market in electricity. According to this Directive, the transmission system operator must be independent from the activities of another energy enterprise, i.e. the control of transmission system must be separated from generation and supply: in this way are unbundled activities unrelated with electricity transmission. The directive stipulates that the EU members are allowed to choose among three unbundling alternatives of energy companies: full ownership unbundling, establishment of an independent system operator or establishment of an independent transmission operator. The activity of transmission grid has been unbundled from generation and supply functions in most of the European Union countries. Lietuvos Energija AB seeks to prepare for any possible alternatives. The resolution regarding application of a specific alternative will be adopted by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania is performing functions in the field of energy state control assigned to it by laws and other legal acts and is implementing the state policy in this field. Lietuvos Energija AB hereby notes that the information about company resolutions, related to perspective plans of the company and resolutions adopted by the company management will be published in accordance with requirements of legal acts, prescribed for disclosure of such information.
