Sanoma renews its operative reporting - all non-core operations to be reported in ‘Other companies and eliminations’

Sanoma renews its operative reporting from the third quarter of 2012. The
change is in line with Sanoma's strategy to focus on consumer media and
learning. The continuing operations of the Group hereafter include three
reportable segments: Media, News and Learning.
As a result, the Trade segment is no longer a reportable segment. Trade's
remaining operation will hereafter be reported in the line item ‘Other
companies and eliminations'.
In addition, Aldipress from the Media segment's ‘Other businesses' and all
remaining ‘Other businesses' from the Learning segment, mainly consisting of
AAC Global and Bookwell, will be hereafter reported in the line item ‘Other
companies and eliminations'.
The line item ‘Other companies and eliminations' hereafter includes non-core
operations, head office functions, real estate companies and Group
eliminations.
Segment information, net sales by business unit, operating profit by segment
and operating profit excluding non-recurring items by segment for 2011 and
first half of 2012 have been changed accordingly. The revised segment figures
can be found also on Sanoma's website atwww.sanoma.com/archive/files.
SEGMENT INFORMATION
Segment assets do not include cash and cash equivalents, interest-bearing
receivables and tax receivables. Transactions between segments are based on
market prices.
