Jouko Pölönen Appointed Pohjola Group's CFO                                     

Jouko Pölönen (38), M.Sc. (Econ. & Bus. Adm.), eMBA, will take up his duties as 
Pohjola Group's CFO on 1 January 2009. His areas of responsibility cover        
Finance, Actuarial Function, Corporate Planning, Central Banking and Group      
Treasury, and Investor Relations. Mr Pölönen will remain the Group's CRO until a
replacement has been appointed. He has acted as CRO since 2001 and a member of  
the Group Executive Committee since the spring of 2008.                         

From 1 January 2009, Pohjola Group's Executive Committee will comprise Mikael   
Silvennoinen (Chairman), President and CEO; Jouko Pölönen, CFO; Reima Rytsölä,  
Executive Vice President, Banking; Tomi Yli-Kyyny, Executive Vice President,    
Non-life Insurance; and Mikko Koskimies, Executive Vice President, Asset        
Management.                                                                     

Ilkka Salonen, the current CFO, will depart the Group on 31 December 2008 to    
join another company.
