Ruukki Group Oyj - Major shareholder announcements

ANNOUNCEMENT PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 2, SECTION 10 OF THE SECURITIES MARKET ACT

Ruukki Group Plc, Stock Exchange Release, 16 July 2008 at 2:50 p.m.             

Ruukki Group Plc has received an announcement pursuant to Securities Market Act 
chapter 2, section 9 regarding a change in shareholding.                        

Nordea Bank AB (publ) (Swedish registration number 516406-0120) announces that  
its Finnish subsidiary Nordea Bank Finland Plc (business ID 1680235-8) has on 15
July 2008 purchased altogether 8,851,000 Ruukki Group Plc shares.               

As a result of the share purchase, Nordea Bank Finland Plc now holds 73,785,862 
Ruukki Group Plc shares i.e. Nordea Bank Finland Plc's ownership of Ruukki Group
Plc's share capital and voting rights has exceeded one fourth (1/4) being 25.44 
%.                                                                              

Nordea Bank AB (publ) does not hold any Ruukki Group Plc shares.                
The total ownership of Nordea Group in Ruukki Group Plc is 73,785,862 Ruukki    
Group Plc shares. As a result, Nordea Group's total ownership has as well       
exceeded one fourth (1/4) being 25.44 % of the share capital and voting rights  
of Ruukki Group Plc.                                                            

In addition, Nordea Bank Finland Plc has made forward contract agreements       
regarding Ruukki Group Plc. Altogether 42,000 sold forward contracts (4,200,000 
shares) will expire on 18 July 2008, 2,000 bought forward contracts (200,000    
shares) will expire in September 2008, 87,742 sold forward contracts (8,774,200 
shares) will expire in December 2008 and 610,083 sold forward contracts         
(61,008,300 shares) in January 2009. As the forward contracts expire on 18 July 
2008, the ownership of Nordea Bank Finland Plc and Nordea Group will fall below 
one fourth (1/4) and in January 2009 fall below one twentieth (1/20).           

Nordea Bank Finland Plc has purchased Ruukki Group Plc shares as a part of its  
market making operations.                                   

Ruukki Group Plc's registered number of shares is 290,034,022 shares and share  
capital is EUR 23,642,049.60.
